【Pure Innocence－Yusen He and Xinti Su Duo Exhibition】

The two artists of「Pure Innocence」, Yusen He and Xinti Su, was born in 1995 and 1994, respectively. In 2017, Yusen graduated from the National Taiwan University of Arts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sculpture and in 2020, he received his Master’s Degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, majoring in conceptual art and research in materials. Xinti also graduated from the National Taiwan University of Arts with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in 2017, and is a current Master’s student of the Department of Oil Painting in Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing.

Yusen started his work on《Snailman Stretching》 at the young age of 17 when school life was simple but a little bit boring. His fine observation of the surroundings and his self-actualization created fantasies that enabled him to interpret matters from a different perspective, which gave birth to the little monster called「Snailman」. This little monster has ever since been repeatedly present as well as growing in Yusen’s creations, which transforms from graffiti to visual images and sculptures, and again back to representations of series of paintings.

Xinti’s production,《Time Lover》, was sprung from her love of looking at family photo albums at a young age and her ability to extend illusions from iconic memory, which were shifted and applied to street-view service on Google Maps.  She utilizes technology to seek unknown excursions, exploits curiosity to satisfy the desire to peep and uses imagination to fill in the gap of visual images. In the end, Xinti captures the sceneries and people from the street view service and integrates them with paintings to create a scenario of a series of her first-person storytelling via pictures.

Born in the ’90s, these two artists render youthfulness for「Pure Innocence」, which allows us all to return back to innocence several rounds!
